Three Bridges, based in Cornwall, is managed and owned by Spectrum and is an independent education centre for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders. We provide access to a waking-hours curriculum to children and young people between 11 and 19 years in an environment where they can learn at their own pace and in lessons individually tailored to meet each of their specific needs.
We aspire to provide each child with an educational pathway that opens the doors to their future, focussing on their personal strengths and aspirations.
We recognise and celebrate the importance of individuality. No young person is the same and each educational experience should be developed around each individual. We work to each young person’s strengths and learning preference.
We believe that through provision of such a specialised environment, the likelihood of understanding and benefitting from education is greatly enhanced and children have a much better chance of integrating with their communities.
Each pupil at Three Bridges has an individual educational plan (IEP) which is delivered to them through a variety of approaches, contexts and settings. Their IEP is derived from a combination of sources: their Statement of Special Educational Needs; observations and assessments by teachers; the residential support team; discussions with parents; inputs from therapists and other professionals. The collected information is then combined to produce a set of objectives which are worked towards and evaluated on a regular basis.
The Ofsted inspection carried out in March 2010 resulted in Three Bridges being judged ‘Outstanding’ in all seven areas.
