Meet the team

Shoni Haswell – Training Manager
Shoni joined Spectrum in June 2016. Having started her career in the care sector, she has hands on experience of working with individuals with ASDs. She went on to work in further and higher education establishments providing tutoring for students with special educational needs. Shoni travelled nationally as a consultant for organisations seeking advice on supporting disabled learners and employees, this led her onto workplace training as well as the development of accredited courses which are now being delivered in local colleges.

 

Brogan Connon – Trainer/Assessor
Brogan joined the training department in 2016 having been a Care Support Worker for Spectrum. He studied psychology at Bath University and developed an interest in Autistic Spectrum Disorders throughout his studies. His interest in ASD led him to volunteer with The Wave Project as a Surf Mentor for children with autism. Brogan is also a Trainer/Assessor for his local Surf Life Saving Club.

 

Gemma Richards – Training Assessor
Gemma has worked for Spectrum since 2004. She has previously worked as a registered manager in our homes and has an in-depth knowledge of the role. Gemma helps ensure team members gain and develop the skills they need to carry out their jobs effectively. She acts as an assessor and verifier for Spectrum, supporting candidates with their qualifications.

 

Darren Moyle – Behaviour Specialist
Darren has worked with individuals with learning disabilities for over 25 years and is a qualified Learning Disability Nurse. Darren has worked for Spectrum for 18 years; ten years as a Behaviour Specialist in the Behaviour & Assessment Team. Darren is based at Sterling Court although is often at the units supporting service users and teams with behavioural analysis and interventions and assessing new clients. Darren is responsible for coordinating potential new service user referrals and carrying out service needs assessments for these individuals. He is also one of Spectrum’s Positive Behaviour Management (PBM) trainers.

 

Rachel Brown – Clinical Psychologist
Rachel has worked for Spectrum for seven years and provides a psychological overview of the services users that we support. Rachel is often at The Pearl Centre delivering open sessions for individuals and families, as well as instrumental in the establishment of Spectrum’s sibling support group. Rachel works with the training centre on the development and delivery of many of our specialist courses and workshops.

 

Robin Gunson – Head of Developments
Robin has worked for Spectrum for 30 years and has a wealth of knowledge of the management of challenging behaviours. Robin is based at Sterling Court alongside the Behaviour Team but is often at The Pearl Centre delivering open sessions for individuals and families affected by autism. Robin also works with the training centre delivering much of our positive behavioural support courses.
